40–200 WManufacturer recommendation

A dedicated centre for a Theva cinema system

Theva Center combines two 16.5 cm Slatefiber drivers and a 25 mm TNF aluminium/magnesium tweeter in a closed two-way cabinet.

Who it is for

Listeners building a receiver-based home cinema with Theva front speakers and space for a dedicated centre near the screen.

Trade-offs

This passive speaker needs amplification. Its 53 cm width and 10 kg weight require suitable support; the optional floor stand, receiver and other speakers are separate.

Match the receiver, screen and front speakers

Focal recommends 40–200 W with 8 ohms nominal impedance and a 3.8 ohm minimum. Check the receiver’s centre-channel capabilities and speaker-load guidance. A TV cannot drive the speaker directly.

Consider Theva N°1 front speakers or another suitable model from the Focal collection. The included tilt base is different from the optional 45 cm centre stand. Position close to the screen with clear drivers and appropriate support. Discuss your Pune room or India-wide system plan with AudioGuru.

Theva Center versus Vestia Center

Manufacturer specifications, not a listening-test ranking
Model Cabinet and tweeter Published response
Theva Center Closed; TNF aluminium/magnesium tweeter 59 Hz–28 kHz
Vestia Center Bass-reflex; M-shaped TAM tweeter and waveguide 58 Hz–30 kHz

Both use two 16.5 cm Slatefiber drivers. Compare Vestia Center alongside the rest of your front speakers and available placement space.

Frequently asked questions

Does Theva Center need an AV receiver?

Theva Center is a passive centre-channel speaker, so it needs a powered centre-channel output from an AV receiver or a suitable separate power amplifier. Focal recommends 40–200 W and specifies 8 ohms nominal impedance with a 3.8 ohm minimum; check the receiver’s supported speaker loads before connecting it.

A television audio output cannot drive this speaker directly. Plan the receiver’s HDMI connections and surround-channel configuration separately from the speaker wiring.

Is the Theva Center price for one speaker?

The ₹130,000 including-GST price on this page is for one Theva Center speaker, not a stereo pair or a complete home-cinema package. The cabinet contains two 16.5 cm Slatefiber midbass drivers and a TNF tweeter; other speakers, amplification and the optional floor stand must be considered separately.

Choose the required finish in the selector before ordering. Photographs of different finishes do not mean that multiple speakers are included.

See the optional centre stand

Can I put Theva Center inside a TV cabinet?

Theva Center measures 21.2 cm high, 53 cm wide and 26 cm deep, so check the actual furniture opening and cable space before positioning it. Its closed cabinet has no bass-reflex port, but a recessed or obstructed location can still affect dialogue; keep the front drivers clear of furniture edges.

Use the silicone feet and tilt-base guidance in Focal’s manual. Check shelf strength for the 10 kg speaker and leave room to adjust its direction toward the seating area.

Discuss cabinet placement

Is a floor stand included with Theva Center?

Theva Center includes a small base that tilts the speaker toward the listening position; the dedicated 45 cm floor stand is optional and is not included in this speaker listing. These are different supports, so choose according to screen height, furniture clearance and the position of the main listening seats.

Follow the supplied instructions for the tilt base and silicone feet. Confirm the optional stand separately rather than assuming that every illustrated support is included.

Check the optional Theva Center stand

Which front speakers match Theva Center?

Theva Center is designed as the centre-channel partner for a Theva home-cinema system, sharing Slatefiber drivers and a TNF tweeter with the range. Choose Theva N°1 bookshelf speakers or an appropriate Theva floorstander according to available space and amplification; there is no single room-area rule that selects the right front pair.

Matching the speaker family helps keep the system coherent, but placement and receiver calibration still matter. Check front-speaker support and bass-management needs as part of the complete plan.

Compare Theva N°1 front speakers

Why is dialogue unclear through my centre speaker?

Unclear dialogue can come from an obstructed centre speaker, unsuitable aiming, room reflections or receiver settings rather than a lack of advertised power. For the 10 kg Theva Center, first check stable placement near the screen, unobstructed drivers and the listening direction before raising the centre-channel level indiscriminately.

Then review the receiver’s channel calibration and source audio format. Change one setting at a time using the same film scene so the comparison is meaningful.

Should I choose Theva Center or Vestia Center?

Theva Center uses a closed cabinet and TNF aluminium/magnesium tweeter, while Vestia Center uses a bass-reflex cabinet and M-shaped TAM tweeter with a waveguide. Both use two 16.5 cm Slatefiber drivers; choose with the rest of the front speakers and installation space rather than treating the higher range as automatically better for every room.

Vestia’s published response is 58 Hz–30 kHz, compared with Theva’s 59 Hz–28 kHz. These figures describe specifications, not a listening-test verdict.

Compare Vestia Center

Do I still need a subwoofer with Theva Center?

Theva Center’s specified response starts at 59 Hz, with a 51 Hz low-frequency point, so it is not intended to replace a cinema subwoofer for the deepest effects. A receiver can redirect bass appropriately; choose crossover and level settings through the receiver’s guidance and calibration rather than assuming the centre handles every frequency.

A subwoofer is a separate purchase and needs suitable positioning. Check the complete speaker system and listening levels before choosing one for your room.
