Description
80 W per channelInto 8 ohms · Class AB
43.2 cmFull-width Uniti component
Standard NovaDifferent from Nova Power Edition
Who is Naim Uniti Nova for?
Uniti Nova suits a stereo system where you want streaming convenience, several source connections and more rated output than Uniti Atom. Its full-width enclosure makes sense in a planned listening space, with the speaker choice, shelf capacity and TV connections considered together.
Reasons to shortlist it
- 80 W per channel into 8 ohms from an integrated Class AB amplifier.
- RCA, DIN, optical and coaxial connections support a varied source collection.
- Streaming, app control, a colour display and tactile volume control in one component.
What to plan for
- The 43.2 cm width and 13 kg weight need a suitable shelf.
- This is the standard Nova, not the higher-powered Nova PE.
- Passive speakers, speaker cables and any phono stage need their own budget.
System matching and placement
Compare the speaker system, not only amplifier watts
Naim’s partner selection includes Focal Diablo Utopia and Sopra models. Use those as audition starting points, then check your room, listening distance and preferred volume. A suitable bookshelf model on proper stands can be a better fit than an oversized floorstander.
Allow room for the full-width enclosure
Measure the shelf for the 43.2 cm width and 26.5 cm depth before adding connectors and ventilation space. The top volume control also needs to remain reachable. Ask about support and cable routing when the unit will share furniture with a television.
Uniti Nova vs Nova Power Edition
| Decision | Uniti Nova | Uniti Nova PE |
|---|---|---|
| Amplifier design | Class AB | Class D |
| Output into 8 ohms | 80 W per channel | 150 W per channel |
| Published PE output into 4 ohms | Do not substitute the PE rating | 250 W per channel |
| Model identity | Standard Uniti Nova | Separate Power Edition model |
| Purchase route | Request current Nova quotation | Confirm exact PE model and supply |
Nova PE is a distinct product, not a firmware upgrade or a different finish of Nova. Do not use its output ratings when assessing the standard Nova. Compare exact models against your speaker load and listening requirements.

Frequently asked questions
Practical answers for choosing, connecting and positioning your system.
Is Uniti Nova the 150 watt Naim streaming amplifier?
The standard Uniti Nova on this page is rated at 80 W per channel into 8 ohms using Class AB amplification. The separate Nova PE is rated at 150 W into 8 ohms with Class D amplification, so the two names and their specifications must not be interchanged.
Check the complete model name on the quotation. If your speaker choice calls for a PE comparison, request that exact model and confirm its current supply.
Should I choose Uniti Nova or the smaller Uniti Atom?
Uniti Nova offers 80 W per channel into 8 ohms and a 43.2 cm width, while Atom offers 40 W and a 24.5 cm width. Compare the speaker demands, available shelf space and source connections first; price alone cannot show which complete system will fit better.
Atom can be attractive where a compact component is the priority. Nova is worth comparing when you want more rated output or more analogue and digital inputs.
Can Uniti Nova power any floorstanding speaker?
Uniti Nova’s 80 W per channel into 8 ohms does not establish compatibility with every floorstanding speaker. Check the speaker’s sensitivity and minimum impedance alongside listening distance and playback level, then compare the combination before assuming that either cabinet size or a nominal impedance rating settles the decision.
Naim lists several Focal speakers as system partners, which is a useful starting point. Your room and listening habits still need to inform the final pairing.
Can I use Uniti Nova for TV sound and surround movies?
Uniti Nova can receive TV audio through HDMI ARC, with Naim’s setup guidance specifying stereo PCM from the television. It powers a stereo speaker pair rather than separate centre, surround and height channels, so a discrete home-cinema layout needs different amplification and processing planned around those channels.
For music and everyday television, a stereo system may suit your priorities. For a multichannel cinema, compare the complete receiver-based system before choosing the electronics.
Does Uniti Nova need a separate phono preamp for vinyl?
Uniti Nova’s RCA and DIN analogue connections accept line-level sources, so a turntable needs an appropriate phono stage before connecting to them. That stage may already be built into the turntable; otherwise choose a separate unit matched to the cartridge and the intended line-level connection.
Confirm the cartridge type and turntable output settings first. Avoid adding a second phono stage in series when the turntable is already delivering a line-level signal.
How much shelf space should I allow for Uniti Nova?
Naim publishes Uniti Nova dimensions of 9.5 × 43.2 × 26.5 cm in height, width and depth, with a weight of 13 kg. Those are enclosure figures, so allow additional space for connected cables, ventilation and access to the top volume control when planning furniture.
Use a stable support rated for the equipment and follow the setup guide. A cabinet opening that only matches the published dimensions may obstruct practical installation and daily use.
Can Uniti Nova connect to a powered subwoofer?
Uniti Nova includes an RCA analogue pre-output that can connect to a compatible powered subwoofer, with the subwoofer’s own input and adjustment options checked first. This adds a route for low-frequency reinforcement, but it does not turn the stereo amplifier into a multichannel cinema processor with dedicated surround decoding.
Confirm the required cable and level arrangement in both manuals. Set up the subwoofer with the main speakers and listening position, rather than judging it only by maximum output.
What high-resolution files can Uniti Nova play?
Naim lists WAV playback up to 32-bit/384 kHz, FLAC and AIFF up to 24-bit/384 kHz, and DSD64/128 support for Uniti Nova. The allowed format also depends on the input path, so do not assume every optical, coaxial or network source accepts the same maximum resolution.
Optical input is specified up to 24-bit/96 kHz and coaxial up to 24-bit/192 kHz. Check the actual file, connection and source output before changing equipment to resolve a playback issue.
